Ashley Moody

Ashley Moody, born in 1975, is the junior U.S. Senator from Florida, appointed on January 16, 2025.

Senator Moody was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to fill the vacancy left by Marco Rubio’s resignation to become U.S. Secretary of State. She was sworn in on January 21, 2025, becoming Florida’s second female senator and the first from the Tampa Bay area.

Prior to her Senate appointment, Moody served as Florida’s Attorney General from 2019 to 2025. Her legal career includes roles as a federal prosecutor and a judge on Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit Court. ​

In the Senate, Moody serves on several committees, including the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; the Committee on the Judiciary; the Joint Economic Committee; and the Senate Special Committee on Aging.

As Florida’s Attorney General, Moody supported legislation opposing the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, reinforcing Florida’s stance against economic actions that target Israel.

At the same time, as Florida’s Attorney General, Moody wrote a memo warning the state’s universities to refrain from playing host to “cesspools of lawlessness and hate,” in response to the antisemitic protests that were organized in many college campuses across the country.

Moody supports continued U.S. security assistance to Israel, emphasizing the strategic partnership between the two nations and the importance of Israel’s security in Middle Eastern stability.​
