Syllabus Transparency Act.

What happens inside America's classrooms should not be a mystery. Yet at many colleges and universities, course syllabi and reading materials remain hidden from public view, making it difficult for students, parents, and taxpayers to understand what is being taught. At a time when campuses are grappling with growing concerns about antisemitism, racism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hate, transparency is more important than ever.

The American Jewish Congress launched the Syllabus Transparency Act to ensure that publicly funded institutions make course syllabi and instructional materials publicly available online. Transparency is not censorship. We are not seeking to dictate what professors teach, but rather to ensure that ideas, perspectives, and educational content can be examined openly and honestly.

We are advancing this initiative through federal legislation, state-level legislation, executive actions, and partnerships with governors and public university systems across the country. Several states have already adopted syllabus transparency measures, helping restore trust, strengthen accountability, and ensure that publicly funded education remains open to public scrutiny.
