Summary
Randal Paul was born in 1963 and is currently serving as the junior United States Senator from Kentucky. Senator Paul’s seat will be up for election in 2028.
Senator Paul was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010 and reelected in 2016. In 1995, Dr. Paul founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, an organization that provides eye exams and surgery to needy families and individuals. He is a former president and 17-year member of Lions Clubs International. Senator Paul unsuccessfully sought the Republication nomination for U.S. President in 2016.
Senator Paul is currently serving on the Foreign Relations Committee; the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee; and the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

Senator Paul opposed the Iran nuclear deal. Although Senator Paul has said that he opposes the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement that targets Israel, he is vehemently opposed to anti-BDS legislation citing First Amendment concerns.
In 2018, Senator Paul blocked the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act, a legislation that supported full funding of security assistance to Israel as outlined in the 2016 U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding.
In 2019, Senator Paul was the only Republican to vote against the Strengthening America’s Middle East Security Act which, among other things, strengthened Israel’s security and allowed a state or local government to adopt measures to divest its assets from entities that boycott Israel.
