Tommy Tuberville

Thomas Tuberville was born in 1954 and is currently serving as the junior U.S. Senator from Alabama in the U.S. Senate. He successfully ran against then-Senator Doug Jones in 2020 and his seat will be up for election in 2026.

Tommy Tuberville is a former football player and coach. Tuberville was head coach for several college football teams, including the University of Mississippi (1995-1998), Auburn University (1999-2008), Texas Tech University (2010-2012), and the University of Cincinnati (2013-2016). In 2015, he was the president of the American Football Coaches Association.

He retired from his coaching career in 2016 as one of the top 50 most winning football coaches of all time. Following his retirement, he joined ESPN as a full-time member of the broadcast staff.

The runoff for the Republican primary in Alabama took place on July 14, 2020. Tuberville won the runoff at the time with 60.7% of the vote, defeating former Senator and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Tommy Tuberville considers Israel as the “most important American ally in the Middle East” and stated that the U.S-Israel relationship “has bolstered our nation’s national security, economic innovation, and technological advancement.”

Senator Tuberville supports the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Israel and continued U.S. security aid to Israel. He believes that “Israel’s qualitative military edge helps preserve the balance of power in the Middle East and that United States’ security is inextricably linked to Israel’s security.”

Sen. Tuberville opposes the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement and the delegitimization of Israel’s national standing. He has argued that the U.S. “must enforce and build on previous policies to defend Israel and oppose BDS efforts.”

Tommy Tuberville supports the two-state solution and has said that he is “encouraged by the Trump administration’s attempts thus far to craft a framework for moving forward.”

Senator Tuberville praised the decision of the Trump administration to “recognize Jerusalem as the rightful capital of Israel.”
